Come cheesemonger for a cheese and butter maker! We’re looking for an adventurous cheese lover to take our retail store and community presence to the next level. Someone with cheesemonger or professional culinary experience is desired, but we are very open to training an enthusiastic applicant.

Landmark Creamery is a Wisconsin-based award winning sheep and cow cheese producer, and butter maker. Our retail store, aging caves and butter facility are located in Paoli, just south of Madison, Wisconsin and we make our cheese in Monroe. We are seeking a Cheesemonger to help us meet the growing demand for our signature line of cheeses and artisan butters.

We’re looking for a professional cheesemonger who’s interested in immersing themselves in the business of making, tasting, selling and talking about Landmark Creamery cheeses and butters. We are willing to financially support ongoing cheese education, such as ACS Certified Cheese Professional certification, Wisconsin Cheese or Butter Graders license or Mons Formation cheese retail courses.

In addition to cheesemongering in our retail shop, we’re looking for someone who loves making videos for social media, planning and executing store events and tastings, working farmers markets and other cheese marketing events, and running online and wholesale order fulfillment.

Weekly and daily tasks would include overseeing the retail store, making local deliveries, online and wholesale order fulfillment, cut/wrap prep for the store and farmers market, social media posting, cheese packing and cave affinage, managing store inventory, and assisting as needed with cheesemaking and buttermaking.

This is a full time job. Must have a valid driver's license and be physically able to lift 40 pounds (boxes of cheese, loaded coolers, etc.). Must be able to work weekends. Salary $18-25/hour, commensurate with experience. Opportunities for advancement include wholesale sales and marketing or attaining a cheesemaker and/or buttermaker license.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in cheesemongering/food service is desired but not a requirement.
  • Ability to attain ServSafe and Learn2Serv certifications within the first month of employment.
  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
  • Understanding of good manufacturing and food safety practices.
  • Able to frequently lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work with required sanitation chemicals.
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Eagerness to learn everything about cheese.
