Assistant Cheese Maker - Full-Time Position in Fort Collins

MouCo Cheese Company is looking for a passionate and dedicated Assistant Cheese Maker to join our team! If you love cheese, have an eye for detail, and are excited to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment, we want to hear from you!

Position: Assistant Cheese Maker
Location: Fort Collins, CO
Compensation: Starting at $18/hr
Employment Type: Full-time (35–40 hours per week)

About the Role:
As an Assistant Cheese Maker at MouCo Cheese Company, you’ll be an essential part of our production team, helping to craft our award-winning cheeses. You’ll learn the intricacies of cheese-making from start to finish and play a key role in maintaining the quality and consistency that our cheese is known for. This is a full-time position with growth potential for those eager to expand their skills in the art of cheese-making.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the daily production of various cheese types, including cheese-making, packaging, and quality control.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks to ensure a hygienic work environment.
  • Monitor and maintain cheese quality throughout the aging process.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet production goals.
  • Learn and follow all safety and quality protocols.

Job Expectations:

  • Hours: 30-40 hours per week. Working days are primarily Monday through Friday, with some weekend work as needed. Start times range from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, with the end of the day between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be willing to work a physical job involving lifting 50 lbs, consistent bending, standing all day, and working in a hot and humid environment.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail is required, adhering to our strict production, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and stay on task.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for cheese, food, and the food production process.
  • Ability to drive a stick shift vehicle is a significant bonus (no special driver’s license class required).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; tasks are rotated to create a fully trained team.
  • Experience in kitchens, fermentation, food manufacturing, or cheese-making is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Raises are determined based on work ethic, aptitude, and ability to learn.
