US Account Manager
Neal’s Yard Dairy is an independent business that has been maturing, selecting and selling artisan cheeses from Britain and Ireland since 1979. We aim to reinvigorate the British and worldwide artisan cheese industry by challenging the way people expect to buy and sell cheese: selling by flavour and quality above price or marketing. As leaders within our industry, we sell the finest cheeses to our customers within the UK and around the world.
We are recruiting a US Account Manager to work on a permanent, full-time basis and be based in the US (East Coast or Upper Mid West). If this sounds like the perfect job for you, read on.
As our US Account Manager, you will grow sales in our US market by
- providing exemplary customer service
- building strong relationships with our US distributors and end customers
- understanding the broader cheese industry
You will educate existing and new customers on the Neal’s Yard Dairy mission, our work and our cheeses in a manner that is inspiring, transparent and sometimes challenging. You will have a deep appreciation for batch variation and be able to match the right cheese to the right customer.
The role will require travel with at least one-third of your time spent on the road and the remainder working from a home office. In addition to visiting customers, this travel will include the UK – time in our shops, in the maturation arches, with the Wholesale team and on cheesemaker visits – as well as various industry events (CMI, ACS Conference, trade shows, etc.).
As education and training are important aspects of the role, you must be a confident public speaker and comfortable behind the counter with cheesemongers. Communication skills are key, both externally with customers and internally with colleagues. Problem solving skills and numeracy are essential. Given the various time zones, some flexibility to the working day is required.
We would love to hear from candidates who are:
- Based on the East Coast or Upper Mid West of the US. You should be based no further than 2h away from a major airport.
- Experienced with a minimum of five years in the cheese industry; retail experience a must, experience in distribution a plus
- Accomplished educators with a track record of training and teaching about cheese (practical cheesemongering, cheese knowledge, etc.)
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Willing to travel
- Eligible for employment in the US
- In possession of a passport or have the ability to obtain one
- Licensed to drive
- Candidates will be further advantaged if they have language skills
