Job Summary

The Spirited Gourmet is an award-winning specialty shop that offers gourmet foods, including a full deli of domestic and imported cheeses and meats, along with wine, beer and spirits. Your job is to help provide exceptional service in a fun, upbeat work environment. You get to work with incredibly loyal guests, amazing products, and a fantastic team in a comfortable retail setting. We are Belmont's favorite neighborhood specialty shop!

You are a good fit for this job if you...

• Actually like (love!) cheese, and like talking about it even more
• Can recommend something to a first-timer without making them feel dumb
• Don't mind the physical side of the work: cutting, wrapping, lifting, cleaning, keeping the case in shape
• Pay attention to details like rotation, freshness, labeling, and how the case looks
• Are curious about wine and beer pairings, or willing to learn
• Work well on a small team where everyone pitches in

Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead the development of our cheese program
• Research and recommend products
• Partner with select vendors and develop a strong working relationship
• Educate staff on the story and care of cheeses  
• Help guests with their purchases of cheese and deli items
• Wrap hand cut deli and cheese orders
• Make delicious sandwiches and salads
• Receive and stock products
• Participate in tasting events
• Ring out guest purchase on a modern point of sale

Qualifications and Skills

• Cheese or deli counter experience required
• Food and beverage experience required
• Wine, beer, and spirits experience a plus
• Experience with Point of Sale (POS) and computer literate
• Knowledge and/or passion for wine and specialty foods
