Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery, established in 2005 as Illinois’ first farmstead creamery, is looking for a head cheese maker.
We seek someone with prior cheese making experience (at least two years) who shares our values for exceptional quality dairy products, an emphasis on sustainable and eco-friendly practices and a passion for artisan cheese making.
We have an amazing support staff, a stellar reputation in the food service and retail grocery wholesale communities and a solid track record of producing award-winning cheeses. In fact, our fresh chevre and bloomy rind "fleur de la prairie" both won gold medals in thei respective (and very competitive) categories at the ACS Cheese Competition.
This is an incredible opportunity to take the creamery to the next level in collaboration with our goat dairy team and our cow milk partners. The farm and business are at the forefront of climate change mitigating practices, particularly silvopasture (browse trees & pasture) goat dairying.
