Apprentice Cheese Maker

The Mystic Cheese Company is a cheese producer based out of Groton, CT. In our new factory we will be producing a wide variety of cheeses. Our goal is to make the best cheese we can everyday!

Mystic Cheese is hiring a full time employee to learn the Science and Art of Cheese Making.

About You:

• Cheese, Brewing or Culinary experience is a plus. If you do not have experience having a passion for food, especially cheese, is necessary!
• Friendly, courteous, respectful, hardworking and self motivated
• Responsible, reliable, and a great communicator
• Enjoys working with others and knows the importance of fostering an excellent working environment through teamwork.
• Clean and efficient work habits
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Ability to be on your feet for up to 9 hours
• Machine Operation skills are a huge plus
• Lifting 50 lbs. repeatably on a daily basis
• Ok working in cool damp and hot humid conditions for extended periods of time

Responsibilities:

• Learning the ancient craft of cheesemaking
• Operating small machinery
• Following documented procedures and documenting your work
• Cleaning and scrubbing, our days are 75% cleaning and 25% cheese making
• Keeping the production areas looking clean, beautiful, and tidy at all times
• Packing cheese orders for our restaurant, catering, and wholesale accounts
• Working in our state of art cheese cave
• Occasionally driving our delivery van in state
